Grief and loss
Grief is a normal, common experience that we go through following some kind of loss or change. We can feel grief when we lose something tangible like a relationship, a job or a house, but we also feel grief when we lose something intangible, like our sense of identity or our imagined future. We encounter losses all the time and throughout our life – some will be easy enough to manage on our own, and others require more support from friends, family, community and health professionals.
While grief can make you feel like you’re losing your mind, it’s very normal to feel thrown off balance when you’re trying to adjust to a significant loss.
I’ve supported adolescent and adult clients through grief from a diverse range of losses, including health diagnoses, relationship breakdowns, infertility, violence, becoming a carer, job loss, and bereavement. Grief counselling offers a space to process and mourn what you’ve lost, and move towards living a life that is valuable to you.
